Tell me more about Clearwater!

Housing

Salvationists live in many Clearwater neighborhoods; the largest concentration lives at On Top of the World - a condominium community near the Corps. A typical unit there generally runs from $80,000 to $100,000. Florida residents are eligible for a Homestead Exemption (a $25,000 reduction in taxable assessed value) for real estate taxes. Overall, real estate rates compare favorably to other officer retirement locations throughout the nation. (However, Florida does not have a state income tax at this time.) On Top of the World condo owners have free use of the heated swimming pool, use of the recently updated golf courses, and access to exercise facilities.

The communities of Largo, Dunedin, Safety Harbor, Palm Harbor, and Clearwater Beach are also convenient to the Corps and offer a wide range of housing and amenities.

Health care

We all want to stay in tip-top health in order to enjoy our retirement. The Clearwater area health care community helps us to do just that. There are three major hospitals within miles of the Corps (Morton Plant, Mease Dunedin and Mease Countryside), each has been awarded major national awards. Your fellow Salvationists here at the Corps would be happy to share their list of medical and dental professionals so that you will not have to pick names from a list on the internet for your health care concerns. In addition to the local hospitals, the Clearwater area has excellent long-term care and rehabilitation facilities. Tampa General Hospital has an outstanding transplant facility, and nearby Shands and Moffitt have world-class cancer treatment facilities.

Fellowship & Worship

Comfortably housed and healthy, the members of the Clearwater Citadel Corps enjoy tremendous opportunities for worship and fellowship.

Our Men’s Fellowship Club and Home League are both very active here at the Corps, providing plenty of events to attend with your friends here in Clearwater. We also have lots of opportunities to volunteer with our youth, social services, and Christmas efforts.

Our music forces in Clearwater are world-class. Whether you want to become involved in the band, songsters, praise band, SAROA band, or as a volunteer with our School of Music - there is a place for you. Check out our facebook page for links to our You Tube channel and podcasts so you may become familiar with what to expect.
